Nose piercing in Westerly, RI
Irish Rose Tattoo does nose piercing on East Ave in Westerly, RI: nostrils are $45 and septums are $50, plus jewelry from $35 in implant-grade titanium or from $90 in 14k solid gold. Rayna Lundvall pierces with needles only, walk-ins Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 8. Ages 16 and 17 need a parent and both IDs.
Walk in, fill out the paperwork, show ID, and Rayna takes it from there. She marks the spot with a surgical pen, has you check it in the mirror from the front and both sides, and adjusts until it sits where your face wants it, not where a template says it should. Then a single-use sterile needle, the jewelry goes in, and you are done. No piercing guns at Irish Rose, ever.
Nostril placement is mostly about the curve of your nose and how you want it to read from the front. A little higher or lower changes the look more than you would expect, which is why Rayna spends the time on it. Septum placement is about anatomy: there is a soft band of tissue just in front of the cartilage, and a well-placed septum goes through that, not the cartilage itself.
Jewelry is ASTM F-136 implant-grade titanium or 14k solid gold, threadless and internally polished. Titanium starts at $35, gold at $90.
Nostril or septum: choosing a nose piercing
A nostril is the more visible of the two and the slower to heal, four to six months. It starts on a flat-back stud, which sits close to the skin and moves less while it heals. A septum heals faster, two to three months, and can be flipped up out of sight once it is comfortable, which matters to a lot of people with dress codes. Some people get both on the same visit; Rayna will tell you honestly if your anatomy suits one better than the other. Not every septum is centered, and she will check before she marks.
Ages 16 and 17 can get either with a parent or guardian present and ID for both. Under 16, we only do lobes, which are covered on the ear piercing page.
Healing and jewelry changes
Clean with sterile saline, leave it alone otherwise, and keep makeup, face cream and sunscreen off the piercing itself. Stay out of the ocean, pools and hot tubs for at least four weeks. The full routine is in the piercing aftercare guide.
Come back at six to eight weeks for your free downsize check, when Rayna swaps the starter post for a shorter one so it does not snag on towels and pillowcases. When you are fully healed and ready for a ring or a gold end, the options are on the jewelry page, and Rayna will fit it for you so you are not forcing anything through a new piercing at home.
| Placement | Service | Heal time |
|---|---|---|
| Nostril | $45 | 4–6 months |
| Septum | $50 | 2–3 months |

Nose piercing questions
Can I start with a hoop in my nostril?
We start nostrils on a flat-back threadless stud because a hoop moves every time you touch it, and that movement slows healing. Once the piercing is fully healed, usually four to six months in, Rayna can fit a ring.
Can I hide a septum piercing for work?
Yes. A septum can be flipped up inside the nose with the right jewelry, which is one reason people choose it. Ask Rayna to fit a shape that flips easily once it has healed enough to handle.
Does a nose piercing hurt?
A nostril is a quick, sharp pinch and usually makes your eyes water for a second. A septum done in the right spot goes through a thin band of tissue rather than cartilage, so most people find it faster than they expected.
