Tattoo shop near Narragansett, RI
Irish Rose Tattoo is a tattoo shop near Narragansett, RI, about 30 minutes and 22 miles south and west on Route 1 to East Ave in Westerly. People from Narragansett Town Beach, Point Judith and the URI side of South County drive down for Tony's fine-line work and Zak's cover-ups. Tattoos start at $80, quoted flat.
Narragansett is the far end of who we see regularly, about 30 minutes and 22 miles away. It is not the closest shop for anyone there, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. The people who make the drive have usually seen a specific artist’s work on Instagram at @irishrosetattoo and decided that is the person they want, and Route 1 south makes it an easy half hour.
Our Narragansett clients are a mix. Year-round residents near the Town Beach and the seawall. People who work the summer around Point Judith and Galilee and want something before the season starts. URI students from Kingston, a little further north, who book on a free weekday afternoon. And plenty of folks headed to or from the Block Island ferry, which leaves from Point Judith about 30 minutes from our door.
Because the drive is real, we try to make the trip count. Send your idea, placement and reference photos through the booking form before you come, and Tony or Zak will have a drawing ready, or at least a clear plan, when you sit down. Nobody from Narragansett should have to make two trips for a small piece.
We are licensed by the Rhode Island Department of Health and inspected annually; all three artists hold bloodborne-pathogen certification. Hours are Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 8.
Is Irish Rose the right tattoo shop near Narragansett for you
If you want a style we specialize in, yes. Tony Asian has 11 years of fine-line, script and micro-realism work, and his Narragansett requests lean coastal: the Point Judith lighthouse in single needle, a wave set off the seawall, coordinates in small script. He books four to six weeks out, so plan ahead.
Zak Sadloski has 14 years of American traditional and black and grey, and he is the reason a lot of people drive down from South County at all. Cover-ups are a big part of his week. Bring the old piece, or clear photos of it, and he will tell you what will work.
If you just want a quick lobe piercing, a closer shop may make more sense. If you want Rayna specifically, she does walk-ins with needles and implant-grade titanium every day we are open.
Making the drive from Narragansett worth it
Every tattoo is quoted flat, with an $80 minimum. Palm-sized pieces are usually $150 to $350, and forearm botanicals $400 to $750. Work quoted over $500 takes a $50 deposit, applied to the final price. See the full pricing breakdown before you book.
Plan around the season. Route 1 through Charlestown and Westerly backs up on summer weekends, so an afternoon on a Tuesday or Wednesday is the easiest drive. A new tattoo needs four weeks out of the water, which matters if your summer is mostly Town Beach and Block Island. Most Narragansett clients book their bigger sessions between October and April, and follow the tattoo aftercare guide from home. Start with the booking form.
Questions from Narragansett
Why drive 30 minutes when there are shops closer?
Because of the artist, not the address. People come for a specific style, fine-line with Tony or traditional and cover-ups with Zak, and the drive is one road.
Can I do a consultation by phone instead of driving down?
You can start with the booking form and photos, and most small pieces are quoted that way. For a sleeve or a large cover-up, the free 20-minute in-person consultation is worth the trip.
I'm a URI student. Do I need anything special?
A government photo ID showing you are 18 or older. Student IDs alone do not count. Pricing is the same for everyone, starting at $80.
Can I get tattooed before taking the Block Island ferry?
You can, but you will not be able to swim for four weeks. If the trip is mostly beach, book the tattoo for after you get back.
